BESL were delighted to attend the recent Careers Event at Woodlands High School, where we had the opportunity to engage with pupils and showcase the wide range of career opportunities available within the construction industry.

Our team spent the day speaking with students about the diverse roles that exist across the construction sector. From site-based positions and technical trades to management and professional careers, they provided valuable insight into the many pathways available and the routes young people can take to enter the industry.

A particular highlight of the day was our interactive demonstration boards, which gave pupils the chance to get hands-on with mechanical engineering activities. Students were encouraged to read technical drawings, identify how different components fit together, and physically dismantle and reassemble the boards themselves. The practical nature of the activity helped bring construction to life, allowing pupils to experience some of the skills used on real projects while developing their problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

As a specialist ALN secondary school, Woodlands High School provides tailored support to help pupils develop the skills, confidence and independence needed for their future careers. The careers event gave students the opportunity to explore a range of pathways within the construction industry, helping them to understand the opportunities available and how their individual strengths and interests could be applied within the sector.

We would like to thank Woodlands High School for inviting us to be part of such a positive and impactful event, and we look forward to continuing our work with schools and communities to inspire the next generation.

Together, we can help build not only great projects, but also bright futures.
