BESL Project Director, Bertie Borley, recently visited Vision 21 Spectrum in Cardiff, a vibrant and welcoming community hub that supports people with learning disabilities through skills-based, work-related training.
However, Vision 21 is far more than a training centre. The charity operates a range of social enterprises that brings people together, including a café, pottery studio, craft workshops and a community garden. It stands as a strong example of how inclusive spaces can strengthen communities while empowering individuals to build confidence, independence and practical skills.
Following his initial visit, Bertie returned with a small team, including Josh Harry and Harrison Mason from Seer Construction, and Delfi Rees and Jimmy Borley from BESL. In just a few hours, the team worked collaboratively to deliver a brand-new patio area complete with a pergola — a meaningful enhancement that will allow Vision 21 to make even better use of their outdoor space for service users, staff and visitors.
Vision 21 was delighted with the result, and we are proud to have contributed in a practical and lasting way.
At CMB, we strongly believe in working alongside organisations that create genuine value within the communities where we are active. Vision 21 represents exactly the kind of local charity we are committed to supporting — one that creates opportunity, builds confidence and fosters a welcoming environment for all.
By helping to improve spaces like this, we are not only supporting the organisation itself, but also contributing to the creation of environments that are more inviting, accessible and engaging for the wider community. We look forward to continuing to support the important work taking place at Vision 21 and building on the positive impact being made together.
