This National Apprenticeship Week, we wanted to take a moment to highlight our current intake of BESL Apprentices. Pictured below are Marcus Fowler, Louis Spillane, Rhys Gathergood, Tyran Brookman, Calvin Fahiya and Dylan Williams who are currently working on the Fairwater Community Campus site in Cardiff.
They split their week doing 1 day in college, 1 day in the training academy, and 3 days onsite where they gain a mixture of academic and practical experience, enabling them to become future engineers.
Our Labour Manager, Jason Oliver, said: “We take great pride in shaping the next generation of skilled pipefitters, ensuring quality, and excellence in every project and we’re looking forward to watching these young engineers progress throughout their apprenticeship with us.”

The BESL apprenticeship programme helps young talent gain invaluable skills and insights, allowing them to contribute to innovative projects while working alongside experienced professionals. We firmly believe in the power of learning on the job and the importance of investing in future talent to ensure the continued growth of BESL, and this has been proven in our recent investment into our new training workshop which is already paying off.
As we celebrate this week, we’d like to highlight the apprentices working on Fairwater Community Campus, not only from BESL but also from our valued subcontractors, including Evans Electrical, Dudley's Aluminium, and Sam Drylining. Each apprentice gave a comment on how they knew what apprenticeship they wanted to do, what their favourite thing about working for their employer is and what’s the best piece of advice they’ve received in the industry.
