Supporting Cardiff Lord Mayor’s Crematorium Memorial Garden

We were proud to recently support fundraising efforts led by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Cardiff, helping to bring to life a meaningful memorial garden at Thornhill Crematorium.

As part of one of their final initiatives before the end of their term, the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress shared their vision of creating a peaceful and reflective space where families could remember loved ones and beloved pets. After hearing about the project and seeing the proposed mock-up designs, we were delighted to collaborate with subcontractors working on the Fairwater Community Campus project to help make this vision a reality.

Seer Construction generously donated slabs which will form part of the memorial area, allowing future plaques to be purchased and installed in memory of loved ones. Afan Landscapes also kindly donated a selection of flowers and shrubs to help create a welcoming and tranquil environment, alongside additional support from Cardiff City Council’s Nursery.

Although the memorial garden has now officially opened, further plans for the garden are ongoing, with one of the final aspirations for the space being the installation of a pergola, and as Fairwater Community Campus project nears completion, we are hopeful that we will be able to return and help deliver this final element.

The memorial garden will continue to evolve through ongoing donations, which will support the upkeep of the space, the addition of further benches, and future planting works. Plans are also in place to create a dedicated hedged area for the scattering of ashes, ensuring the garden can provide comfort and reflection for many people in the years to come.
