During the recent half-term break, we were delighted to welcome three pupils who chose to spend their time gaining valuable insight into the construction industry. They embraced the opportunity to explore a fast-paced and rewarding sector, showing curiosity and a genuine willingness to learn.
Across the week, each pupil experienced a variety of hands-on roles, giving them a broad understanding of construction and the diverse career pathways it offers.
Willow joined our Social Value and Health & Safety team, gaining first-hand experience of the essential work that supports every successful project. From assisting with site tours and supporting general site administration to taking part in Health & Safety walk-arounds, she developed a strong appreciation of compliance, communication and community engagement. Willow approached every task with professionalism and quickly became part of the team.
Josh and Noah spent their week alongside our Electrical and Mechanical engineers, exploring the technical side of construction. They saw how detailed designs are translated into fully functioning building systems and gained practical insight into coordination and installation on site. Alongside this, they also contributed to a community initiative, helping to build a reading nook for a local primary school. The project not only strengthened their practical skills but also demonstrated how construction can have a meaningful and lasting impact beyond the site boundary.
We would like to thank CMB Engineering, Ian Williams Carpentry and Evans Electrical for their continued support in making this placement such a success. Their willingness to give their time and expertise plays an important role in inspiring young people to consider careers in the industry.
Most importantly, all three pupils leave with a clearer understanding of the opportunities available within construction and the confidence to explore them further. Meaningful work experience is about more than observation — it’s about opening doors, building confidence and helping young people see where their future could lead.
We are proud to have supported them on that journey and look forward to welcoming them back in the future.
